Gasoline on The Rise in The US

There are three grades of gasoline that you can fill up your car: good, better and best. Regular one costs $3.01 per gallon (~3.8 liters) as you can see. Kounila, how much is it now per liter in Phnom Penh?

Cost per liter in Phnom Penh:
Regular: $1.10
Better grade: $1.12
Diesel: $.90

Kounila,
Thank you very much for your information.

Last week gasoline here cost $2.75 per gallon for regular. It has gone up 9%, but still cheaper than our country. I am not sure how an average Cambodian can afford to travel and buy food. Look at the teacher's monthly pay. $40.00? As gas goes higher, so does food.

Kalyan, what is your input?

Yes, sis, about $1.10 now.

Your welcome, Brother Keo Vannak.

It's terrifyingly increasing. Cambodian people can't afford it. You are right. Let's look at the teachers's salary. How can they afford such a high price of things? Now don't look at the teacher's payment. Let's look at other people who have a less-paid job than a teacher's. IT's not the gasoline which has gone upt but also food, other goods and products! Unbelieveable! The sellors told me that they didn't have a choice as the transportation of the goods is so high that they need to increase the price of their goods for a little profit. The other idea I got from low-paid people is that they dont'knwo what to do. They will not able to afford to be decent in their job anymore. Bribery will perhaps increase more and more. Why is this black gold casting a spell on my people?

I have my own way, a future-to-be electric bicyle. And save the gasoline for the rainy days!

What about other people?

The city doesn't have public transportation!!! There is no traffic free zone area. I would like to see more of these for our future city! how to achieve that, consider the poor infrastructure????

Oh, sis, that is really needed. A bus company once did a survey of whether people like this transportation around the city in early 2007. I didn't know the result but it seems people have ideas about it but their ideas are not put into actions yet.

Sis, you raised a very important point, poor infrastructure. One has to close their eyes and shake their head when looking at the PhnomPenh infrastructure from above. The buildings were built very badly. I mean, look, when you travel along the Phnom Penh streets, you see side roads to this and that...and even the highway in Phnom Penh is so small compared to the highway in other countries...we can't widen the road. It is a hard thing to do.

So after all, the very good solution is to reduce the personal vehicles which should be kept for the rainy days and to start to use publich transportation to save gasoline and keep the environment...:Dddd..
